The most important thing to monitor in your garage door system is the level at which your springs are balancing the door. This is call the “balance” of the door. IF the springs are balancing the garage door, it should hover about knee high when you move it manually. If the door is sliding or slamming down, the springs are bad and you need to call a technician right away. The longer the opener runs the door up and down, the shorter the life span of your opener.
